    Pastured Bird Kill Cone

Opening at the bottom could be a little larger for getting my hand into trying to reach the neck/head (when they try to hide). Our Freedom Rangers weighed between 4.25 - 6.5 lbs at 9 1/2 weeks old. The cone worked well for them even at 6.5 lbs --- but they are not double-breasted like the Cornish Rock Cross.
From Cornerstone: We offer a number of different kill cone sizes to try to meet the many different size chickens. Breeds and cross breeds change every year and we try to keep up with the "latest" size bird. No one kill cone will fit all size chicken.

    Nice and strong

Worked great for my pastured cornish cross. Had a couple of 5lb birds back out of the cones but overall not bad. Will probably get a couple more.

    Not for Really Large Birds

This cone is really well made - my neighbors were very impressed with the quality of this cone - me too.

I bought it to process Cornish Meat birds (Not Cornish Cross X). Didn't know the birds would dress out at 10 to 12 lbs each. Had to reach in and pull the heads through with little room for the knife work.

My fault I should have asked customer support but was in a rush as usual!

Well made but the shape could be better.

These cones are well made and I have no problem with the construction. The issue that I have is the shape. I knew the birds that I would be harvesting were bigger so I went with this cone assuming it would be just right. The problem is the cones do not expand quickly enough for the larger birds which means that the short fat broiler cannot stick his head out the bottom in order to be slaughtered. For example if the cone dimensions were 14 high X 12 top X 3 bottom it would be a much better fit.

I am always pleased with cornerstone farm and love their products, this one just turned out to be a poor fit for my situation.

    terrific cone

Will never kill a chicken any other way again. Seemed humane and no mess. Always killed hanging by feet with cables. With two cones, killed and bled and kept up with two hand pluckers. we do 10 chickens per hour 50 per time.

    Best cone around

I've been slaughtering pastured broilers for 6 years and have gone through many different cones. These are by far the best I've used. I'm just bummed I hadn't found them earlier. No matter the size, the bird cannot jump out.
